Adolf Hitler was the leader of Nazi Germany, also known as the Third Reich, from 1933 until his death by suicide in 1945. He was the leader of the Nazi Party. He gained popular support among Germans upon his promises to regain Germany's lost glory and might, and he wanted to assert German dominance in Europe through annexation of European lands.

The Treaty of Versailles, signed by U.K., U.S.A., France and their allies after the defeat of the Kingdom of Germany in WW 1 was catastrophic for Germany. It stripped Germany of most of its wealth and pride, and even annexed a lot of German territory. Hitler used this anger and frustration of Germans for their defeat in WW1 to support his cause of building a 'Superior' German, Aryan nation.

Apart from the annihilation of Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, The Disabled in the nation, he quicky asserted German air, naval and land superiority in Europe as WW2 started after he annexed Poland, and was able to easily defeat powerful countries and empires such as the Netherlands, France and Norway, to assert German hermithood over Europe.
