Step-by-step explanation:

Let first kind of sweet be x kg

and second kind of sweet be y kg.

In total 40 kg sweets are required.

So, x+y =40. (i)

Also, it is given that cost of sweets is Rs.250 and Rs.350 respectively.

And total budget is Rs. 11800

So, 250x + 350y = 11800.

(dividing above eqn by 50)

5x + 7y = 236. (ii)

Multiplying eq(i) by 5

5x+5y = 200. (iii)

(ii) - (iii),

2y = 36

y = 18

Therefore, x= 40-18= 22. (using eq (i) )

Thus, 22kg of first kind and 18 kg of second kind of sweets were bought by the students.
