The functions of Romans in the classical art are as follows:

  • The Romans are considered to be one of the first civilized races of humans who indulged in art, crafts, music, literature, and so on.
  • Roman art was influenced by the Greeks, who created the classical arts and texts. Similar art forms as found in Greek culture are also found in Rome. Even artists from Greece were summoned to design and reconstruct the Roman monuments. Thus we find a stark similarity between the two art forms.
  • The Romans used techniques of mosaic and mural paintings. Over the ages, the walls of Roman churches have been adorned with numerous paintings from the Bible.
  • They used majorly primary colors like red, yellow, green, violet, and so on.
  • The Romans gave a new meaning to sculptures. They moved away from the traditional Biblical references and created innovative narratives and structures.
