Metals:Gold, silver, copper, aluminium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, platinum are few metals.Metals have lustre. The metals are hard.Wire or sheet can be from them made metal.Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.Metals lose their valence electrons to produce positively charged ions, that is,cations.

Non-Metals:Carbon,Sulphur,phosphorus are few nonmetals.Generally non-metals are brittle and nonlustrous

Answer:

1. Physical state- Most of the metals are solid at room temperature. mercury is the only metal known to occur in liquid state in nature at room temperature. no metal exist in gaseous states. non metals are generally solid or gases. non metals like sulphur, phosphorus and carbon are solids. non metals like hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen are gases. bromine is the only non metal which exist as liquid at room temperature.

2. malleability and brittleness- The property which allows the metal to be hammered into thin sheets or foils is called malleability. most metals are malleable. the property due to which non metals break up into pieces on hammering is called brittleness. non metals are generally brittle.

3. ductility- Theproperty which allows the metals to be drawn into thin wires is called ductility. metals are generally ductile like copper, silver and gold. that is why copper is used for making electric wires. non metals are not ductile.

4. Lusture- The shining property is known as Lusture-. metals are generally lustrous like gold, silver and Platinum. non metals are not lustrous. but diamond is the only non metal that is lustrous.
