⚫Classification based on flowers
Some plants bear flowers while others not. On the basis of flowers, plants are classified into flowering plants and non-flowering plants.
➡️Flowering plants
Plants that have ability to produce flowers are called flowering plants. They are seed producing plants. They are also called as Angiosperms. About 90% of total plants in the world are flowering plants. Example of flowering plants include mango, grape, cauliflower, cucumber, etc.
➡️Non-flowering plants
Plants that cannot produce flowers are known as non-flowering plants. They cannot produce seed. Example – Ferns, horsetail, conifers, etc are non-flowering plants. Most of the non-flowering plants are useless. Some of them are used as decorative purpose.
⚫Classification based on differences in the height of stems and branches
On the basis of differences in the height of stems and branches of plants, they are classified into trees, shrubs, climbers and creepers and herbs.
➡️Trees
Plants that grow very tall and have strong hard stems or trunks are called trees. Let us consider trees of rubber, banyan and coconut; we shall find that the rubber and the banyan tree have strong hard trunks. They have so many branches. The branches bear leaves. While the coconut tree has strong hard stem but do not has branches. Leaves grow only at the top of the stem. Parts of trees like roots, branches, barks, leaves, etc are used as medicine, timber and other necessary purpose.

Plants of medium height with strong hard stems are called shrubs. Plants of lemon, blueberry, beautyberry, banana shrub, bamboo palm, etc are shrubs.

Plants having weak stems that grow on supports are called climbers. Examples of climbers include bitter-gourd, pumpkin, watermelon, muskmelon, etc.

Plants with soft and flexible stems are called herbs. Plants like garlic, ginger, potato, onion, mint, etc. are herbs. Most of the herbs have great medicinal importance.
