The Himalayan rivers are perennial it means that have water throughout the year because they get water from the snow and rain, whereas the peninsular rivers are not perineal, they get water from rain.

Peninsular rivers: Mahanadi,

Himalayan rivers: Satluj, Ganges, Kosi

Another point of difference between the two is that the peninsular rivers emerge from plateau where as Himalayan rivers originate form Himalayan glaciers.
