Directions are classified into two types.First one are main directions also known as Cardinal directions.

They are

1) North
2) South
3) East
4) West.

Cardinal directions are at 90°to the axes. in the Co-ordinate plame

Second is Ordinal or Inter cardinal directions. The ordinal (orintercardinal) directions are 

1) South west
2) North west
3) South east
4) North east.

These are located between two cardinal directions. They are at 45° to the axes.

DIRECTION is classified into two types. The first one is the main direction or Cardinal directions of the compass present in each 90° angle. They are -

• North ( N )
• South ( S )
• East ( E )
• West ( W )


Another type of directions are the ordinal directions or the intermediate directions, are the four points in between the cardinal directions. They are -

• North east ( NE )
• North west ( NW )
• South east ( SE )
• South west ( SW )
