Igneous rocks are classified into two categories. They are -

• Intrusive Igneous rocks - When the magma solidifies inside the mantle without coming on the Earth's crust, it forms intrusive igneous rock. They are smooth in texture. Ex- Graphite.

• Extrusive Igneous rocks - When the magma comes out on the Earth's crust and solidifies, it forms extrusive igneous rocks. They are coarse (hard) in texture. Ex- Basalt.
