Answer:

a) Thermosetting plastics are used in saucepan handles because they do not soften on heating and also they cannot be bent easily. These plastics like bakelite are poor conductors of heat.

b) Thermosetting plastics are used in electric plugs/switches/plug boards as they are bad conductors of electricity. They do not get moulded. Also, they are hard and strong.

Answer:

Explanation:

  • Explanation:Thermosetting plastic is characterized as plastic that becomes hard and rigid on heating and therefore, it can not be reversed back..

  • While thermoplastic is the plastic that weakens on heating and it can be remolded back into any shape. Thus, it can be recycled.

  • Thus, thermosetting plastics can tolerate heat and are used in ovens etc. because they get strengthened by heat while vice versa happens in the case of thermoplastic as they melt on receiving heat and get hard on cooling.

  • On the basis of such details, the given are characterized as thermosetting and thermoplastic
