ANSWER:

Based on storage, leucoplasts are classified into three categories. They are- Amyloplast, Elaioplasts and Proteinoplasts.

EXPLANATION:

  • A group of colourless plastids consisting of different organelles are called “Leucoplast”. They functions differently on basis of their storage functioning.
  • Amyloplast are found in the roots of plants and also in the storage tissues. They store the starch for the plants and synthesize it; this process of synthesizing the starch is known as Polymerization.
  • Elaioplasts stores lipids for plants. They mainly synthesize and stores lipids, fatty acids and terpenes. Elaioplasts are found in citrus fruits, oilseeds and in anthers of flower giving plants.
  • Proteinoplasts contain crystal like proteins and found only in plants. They can function as the sites of enzymatic functionings.
