•Volcanic plateau:- These are formed when successive layers of liquid lava flowed out as a result of volcanic eruptions. Spread over a wide region,the lava cooled,and successive sheets of lava solidifies to form a raised table land or a plateau over a period of time.

Eg:- Columbia-Snake plateau in USA, Northwestern part of Deccan Plateau India, The Malwa plateau India.

•The Intermontane plateau:- Intermontane means "Betwween mountain". Intermontane plateaus are enclosed by fold mountains . These are usually very high . The pressure of two fold mountains wrinkles the Earth's crust which forms a table land .

Eg:- The great Tibetan plateau between the Kunlun fold mountains and The Himalayan fold mountain , The Anatolian plateau between the Pontic and Taurus fold mountains., The plateau of Bolivia and Peru, etc.
