A strong acid is one that completely ionises in water to form a large amount of hydrogen ions whereas a weak acid only partially ionises in water and thus produces a small amount of hydrogen ions.

HCl,H2So4, and HNO3 are strong acids.

CH3COOH,H2Co3 and H2So3 are weak acids.

Answer:

Strong acids are HNO3, HCl and weak acids are H2CO3, CH3COOH.

Explanation:

Strong acids : Those acids which dissociate easily and release hydrogen ions rapidly are termed as strong acids. For example- Hydrochloric acid (HCl), Nitric acid (HNO3) are strong acids. In solution they rapidly dissociate into constituents and release hydrogen ion.

Weak acids : Those acids which hydrolyses slowly and do not release hydrogen ions easily are known as weak acids. For example- Acetic acid (CH3COOH) and Carbonic acid (H2CO3) are weak acids as they hydrolyse slowly.

Thus, from the above explanation it is clear that HCL and HnO3 are strong acids whereas H2CO3 and CH3COOH are weak acids.
