If a change can be reversed by reversing its conditions is called a Reversible change.
Changes that cannot be reversed by reversing their conditions are called Irreversible changes.
1) Melting of ghee
- It is a reversible change
- Heating melts the ghee. Cooling the melted ghee returns the ghee to its normal form.
2) Bursting of crackers
- It is an irreversible change
- Burst crackers cannot be obtained in the same form after bursting.
3) Mixing oil and water
- It is an irreversible change
- Mixing any substances cause irreversible change because they cannot be obtained back without physical means.
4) Caramelizing sugar
- It is an Irreversible change
- Heating sugar melts it is called caramelizing. Cooling down the sugar will not return it to its original state which is granules of sugar.
5) Tearing of paper
- It is an irreversible change.
- Torn paper cannot be joined back to its original form.
