Concept

Acid salts are formed by converting part of the ionzable hydrogen atoms of polybasic acid to iron or ammonium ion.

Explanation:

1) CuSO4 is acidic.

Aqueous solution of copper sulphate is acidic in nature because copper sulphate on dissolving with water, following chemical reaction takes place

CuSO4(s) + 2H2O - Cu(OH)2(l) + H2SO4(aq) Now as we can see in above chemical equation the sulphuric acid generated is strong mineral acid.

Thus it is acidic in nature.

2)CH3COONa is basic in nature.

sodium acetate is a salt formed by the neutralization reaction of acetic acid and sodium hydroxide.

Compared to acetic acid's mild acidity, sodium hydroxide is strongly basic thus in aqueous solutions sodium acetate behaves slightly basic.

3)NaCl is neutral in nature.

Sodium chloride, which is obtained by neutralization of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide, is a neutral salt.

4)NH4Cl is acidic salt.

Ammonium chloride is an acidic salt since it is a salt of a strong acid, namely hydrochloric acid, and a weak base, namely ammonium hydroxide.

5)CaSO4 is acidic in nature.

CaSO4 is formed by weak base and strong acid,so it is acidic in nature.

Hence the salts are classified.
