Clay is not a polymer since polymers are compounds and clay is a mixture.

Pradyumngh: A polymer is a substance which has a molecular structure built up chiefly or completely from a large number of similar units bonded together, e.g. many synthetic organic materials used as plastics and resins. While clay is a mixture. There is another substance known as clay polymer in which a liquid is added to dry particles until it achieves gel-like working properties, and similarly, the part is put into an oven to harden, hence its colloquial designation as clay.
