Example 13 : Factorise 6x2 + 17x + 5 by splitting the middle term, and by using the

for splitting the middle term you need to first consider the coefficients of the expression

we need to split 17 in such a way that the product of the numbers is 6x5=30

for this we can split 17 as 15+2

so the expression becomes

6x^2 + 15x + 2x + 5 = 3x (2x + 5) + 1(2x + 5)

= (3x + 1)(2x + 5)
