Due to variability of rainfall, that can modify the composition of the soil. Like accumulation of the salt in soil etc. The soil in the Tropics tends to poorly treated as they gets lot of rainfall. the fluctuation in temperature creates shrinking and swelling frost action

Example: Areas with little rainfall with high rate of evaporation led to accumulation of salt in soil. The soils underlaying tropical rainforest tend to be nutrient-poor because of intensive leaching due to heavy rains.
