Double-decker rocket immunoelectrophoresis for direct quantitation of complement C3 split products with C3d specificities in plasma

I Brandslund, HC Siersted, S-E Svehag, B Teisner

Journal of immunological methods 44 (1), 63-71, 1981

Abstract A double-decker rocket immunoelectrophoresis (DD-RIE) method for direct quantitation of complement split products with C3d determinants in human plasma is described. The usefulness of the DD-RIE method for monitoring C3 activation has been assessed and compared with conventional crossed immunoelectrophoresis (CIE) for C3c determination in a patient with iatrogenic septic shock and patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In contrast with CIE the DD-RIE method is quantitative by reference to a standard curve …

Measurement of the complement C3 breakdown product C3d by rocket immunoelectrophoresis

BE Bourke, IK Moss, RN Maini

Journal of immunological methods 48 (1), 97-108, 1982

Abstract A method is described for quantitative measurement of C3d in plasma and synovial fluid by the use of rocket immunoelectrophoresis after fractionation of the samples with 22% polyethylene glycol. This method has the advantage over radial immunodiffusion of being more sensitive (detecting C3d down to 3 mg/l) whilst proving equally reproducible. Investigations indicate that the collection of blood samples in EDTA prevents in vitro activation of C3 even after storage for up to 6 h at room temperature and up to 12 weeks at …
