Reduction means gaining of electrons by a metal . Therefore the metal which is used to reduce another metal gives its electrons to the other metal which means it has more capability to lose electron and give its electron to the metal which is reduced.
Reducing agent = loses electrons
Metal reduced = gains electrons

let me explain from first example

Explanation:

Zn is better reducing agent than Cu2+ . This shows that Zn has more capability to lose electrons than the one that is reduced i.e. Cu2+

P.S----This statement is just a trick statement
