The complex ion [Co(NH3)6]+2 is readily oxidized to [Co(NH3)6]+3. This is because although the ligands are the same in both the coordination complexes. But ln [Co(NH3)o]+2 the Co+2 has 3d74so and ln [Co(NH3)6]+3 the Co+3 has 3d64so. So, gain of electron i.e. oxidation takes place readily from [Co(NH3)6]2+ to [Co(NH3)6]+3.
