Solution:

Let say co-ordinate of points on the line which are at a distance of 8 units from point P​ is  a

The | a - P |  = 8

P is - 9

=> | a - (-9) | = 8

=> | a + 9 | = 8

=> a + 9 = ± 8

Case 1

a + 9 = 8

=> a = -1

case 2

a + 9 = - 8

=> a = - 17

Hence -17 and - 1 are the  co-ordinate of points on the line which are at a distance of 8 units from point P​
