Let say point B is  a distance of 5 units from A​

Coordinate of B = x

=> |  x - (-2)|  =  5

=> | x + 2 |  =  5

=> x + 2 = 5  or  x + 2 = - 5

=> x = 3  or x = - 7

Hence   co-ordinates of points on the number line which are at a distance of 5 units from A​    are -7 and  3
