Coal produces energy on burning, but we can not get energy by eating it while eating an apple gives us energy. Explain why it is so.

coal is not edible . coal is made up of fossil fuels which is the decayed part of animal and plants . so when burnt it produces heat which we cannot . when we have a apple it contains sugar which is a carbohydrate which on reacting gives us a energy and coal is not a carbhohydrates
