Coal soaked with water weighs 90 kg with 20% of its weight being water. Through a chemical process some of the water content is evaporated so that only 10% of its weight is water. What will be the reduced weight?​

When the weight of the sponge is 90kg ,20%of weight is due to water which means the weight of the sponge alone is 80% of 90kg which is equal to 72kg

After sometime water constitutes 10% of the total weight of the sponge which means weight of the sponge alone is 90% of the new weight (let 'x' be the new weight)

x*90/100=72

x=72*100/90

x=80

Therefore the new weight of the sponge is 80kg
