Coconut oil is now cost Rs.27 per kg. During last month, its cost was Rs.24 per kg. Find by how much percent (also consumption decrease in fraction) a family should reduce its consumption, to keep the expenditure the same.

Heya!

Old price = Rs. 24
New price = Rs. 27
Increase in price = 27 - 24 = Rs. 3
That is, in %, = 3/24 × 100 = 25/2 %

Now, reduction in consumption
=  (25/2)/(100+(25/2)) × 100
= 125/100 + 125 × 100
= 11.1 %

Hope it helps!

anushreechn: Does this fraction is correct ? Consumption decrease in fraction = (25/2) / (100+ (25/2)) × 100
anushreechn: Finally it comes as 100/9
aishowrya: I don't know, i just tried answering after searching for the formula in internet
anushreechn: It's okay thanku
