The process of raring and obtaining silk from the silk worm is called as sericulture. The cocoon is an immature stage of the development of the silk worm. The cocoon is covered by the envelop of the silk fibers. The fibers are extracted from cocoon by exposing them to the direct sunlight, boiling in water or exposing to the steam.
