Given,

(3y-2)³

To find,

Coefficient of y in the expansion of (3y-2)³.

Solution,

The given equation is of the form of (a-b)³.

The expansion of (a-b)³ is  a³-3a²b+3ab²–b³

Similarly, expansion of (3y-2)³-

⇒   (3y-2)³ = (3y)³-3(3y)²(2)+3(3y)(2)²-(2)³

⇒   (3y-2)³ = 27y³-3(9y²)(2)+3(3y)(4)-8

⇒   (3y-2)³= 27y³-54y²+36y-8

A constant placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic equation is known as a constant. For Example- A constant of 2y is 2.

Hence, the coefficient of y in 27y³-54y²+36y-8 is 36
