coelenterates are aquatic invertebrate animals of a phylum known as coelenterata...that includes jellyfishes, corals, and sea anemones. They typically have a tube- or cup-shaped body with a single opening ringed with tentacles that bear stinging cells (nematocysts)..they use these cells to hunt their prey for nutrition as well as for their protection.
