Step-by-step explanation:

The profit percentage is 5%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Coffee costing Rs.450 per kg was mixed with chicory costing Rs.225 per kg in the ratio 5:2 for a certain blend. If the mixture was sold at Rs.405 per kg.

To find : The gain or loss percent?

Solution :

Let the ratio be divided by 'x'

So, The ratio became 5x and 2x.

Coffee costing Rs.450 per kg was mixed with chicory costing Rs.225 per kg in the ratio 5:2 for a certain blend.

i.e. Total cost of 7x kg of mixture is = 450\times 5x+225\times 2x450×5x+225×2x

Total cost of 7x kg of mixture is = 2250x+450x2250x+450x

Total cost of 7x kg of mixture is = 2700x2700x

Cost price of 1 kg of mixture is = \frac{2700x}{7x}

7x

2700x

Cost price of 1 kg of mixture is = 385.71385.71

Selling price of 1 kg mixture = Rs.405

So, S.P>C.P there is a profit.

Profit = S.P-C.P

Profit = Rs.405-Rs.385.71

Profit = Rs.19.29

Profit percentage is

P\%=\frac{P}{CP}\times 100P%=

CP

P

×100

P\%=\frac{19.29}{385.71}\times 100P%=

385.71

19.29

×100

P\%= 5\%P%=5%

Therefore, The profit percentage is 5%.
