Answer:

7/50

Step-by-step explanation:

let, total = x

blue cube = 60/100 * x * 10/100 = 6x/100

blue cone = 40/100 * x * 20/100 = 8x/100

probability of getting blue shape = blue shapes/total

= (6x/100 + 8x/100)/x = 7/50

Given : In a box, 60% of the shapes are cubes and 40% are cones. If 10% of the cubes and 20% of the cones are blue,

To Find : the probability that a blue shape selected at random is a cone

Solution:

Assume that Total shapes are = 100x

60% of the shapes are cubes  = (60/100) 100x = 60x

=> cubes are  60x

    Cones are 40x

10% of the cubes are blue,

=> Blue cubes  = (10/100)60x  = 6x

20% of the cones are blue

=> Blue cones = (20/100)40x  = 8x

Total Blue shapes = 6x + 8x  = 14x

Blue cones  = 8x

the probability that a blue shape selected at random is a cone  = 8x/14x

= 8/14

= 4/7

Correct option is 4/7
