Answer: 6

Explanation:

Let us consider the number of 5 rupee, 2 rupee, 1 rupee and 50 rupee coins to be a, b, c and d

We know

a : b : c : d = 1 : 5 : 2 : 6

Keeping k as proportionality constant we can infer

a = k
b = 5k ⇒ k = b/5
c = 2k ⇒ k = c/2
d = 6k ⇒ k = d/6

Hence

a = b/5 = c/2 = d/6

b/5 = a ⇒ b = 5a
c/2 = a ⇒ c = 2a
d/6 = a ⇒ d = 6a

The sum of the products of the number of coins with their value will give us the total value

5a + 2b + c + 50d = 1900
⇒ 5a + 2(5a) + 2a + 50(6a) = 1900
⇒ 5a + 10a + 2a + 300a = 1900
⇒ 317a = 1900
⇒ a = 1900/317 ≈ 6

The exact number of five rupee coins for the total to be 1900 is not a whole number and hence does not exist. The closest whole number round-up is 6 for which the total accounts to be 1902

Hope it helped
