Let Colin's share be 4x and Brain's share be 1x.

4x+1x=£2100

5x=£2100

x=£420

Colin's share - 4×£420=£1680

Therefore Colin's share is £1680.

He then shares his part as 2y for himself , 5y for his wife and 3y for his son .

2y+5y+3y=£1680

10y=£1680

y=£1680÷10

Wife's share - 5×£168=£840

Son's share - 3×£168=£504

Therefore his wife gets £336 over his son .
