Colin put some buttons on a table. There were 4 blue buttons, 5 red buttons, 7 tan buttons, and 8 white buttons.

Colin's cat jumped up and knocked 2 buttons onto the floor. What is the probability that both buttons on the floor were blue or red? Show or explain your work to justify your answer.

4

total no of buttons or outcome= 24

for favourable outcome of red or blue buttons = red + blue=4+5=9

hence,

P(red or blue)=m/n

=24/9=8/3
