Answer:

Hey there !

We know that Rust is a substance formed when iron reacts with moist air. Rust has a chemical formula of Fe₂0₃. x H₂O

Since Fe is a metal, Rust is nothing but a metal oxide.

We know that Metal oxides are basic in nature. Hence on adding water to rust we get Basic Hydroxide.

Observation: So the solution will change red litmus paper to blue and blue litmus paper has no change.

Conclusion: Rust is basic in nature.

Hope my answer helped !
