Given :- By selling 288 pens, a shopkeeper lost the selling price of 12 pens.

To Find :- His lost Percentage

Solution :-

Let S.P. of 1 pen = x

Then, S.P. of 12 pens = 12x

So, Loss by selling 288 pens = 12x

Now, S.P. of 288 pens = 288x

We know that,

Loss = C.P. - S.P.

12x = C.P. - 288x

C.P. = 12x + 288x

C.P. = 300x

According to Question,

$loss\% = \frac{loss}{c.p.} \times 100 \\ loss\% = \frac{12x}{300x} \times 100 \\ loss\% = \frac{12}{3} \\ loss\% = 4\%$

Hence, His loss percent is 4 %
