You should collect data from sources such as the World Bank, UNDP, CIE World Factbook, IMF, etc. Once you have done this, do some trend analysis. Look at the way the world is moving in.  Now you can take diverging stance. In one way, you see the European Union increasing its members every year, you see the WTO, which is a symbol of a global village. On the other extreme, you see the United Kingdom exiting the EU, you can also see a lot of groups in other countries wanting to opt out of the EU. So it depends on you what stance you want to take - how you see the world 50 years hence.
