- There are eight types of blood groups namely, A⁺, A⁻, B⁺, B⁻, O⁺, O⁻, AB⁺ and AB⁻.
- O- can donate blood to all the other blood groups but can only receive from a donor with O- blood group.
- O+ can only give to AB+, A+, B+ and O+ but can only take from O- and O+.
- A- can donate to A-, A+, AB+, AB- but can only receive from O- and A-.
- A+ can donate to AB+ and A+ and can receive from O-, O+, A-, A+.
- B- can give to AB-, AB+, B-, B+ and can take from O- and B-.
- B+ can give to AB+, B+ and can take from O-, O+, B-, B+.
- AB- can donate blood to AB-, AB+ but can only take from O-, A-, B-, AB-.
- AB+ can donate to only AB+ but can take from all the blood groups.
