LOHAGARH FORT
The fort doesn't have even a single iron piece used while making it but because nobody could win the fort even the British attacked the fort four times but could not win it which is why it was named Lohagarh fort or Iron fort. It was built in the 18th century by Jat ruler Maharaja Suraj Mal. The fort is located in the North-Western area of India, Rajasthan. The city of Bharatpur in Rajasthan holds this beautiful Fort. The fort is surrounded by deep moats. There is a legend that states that the fort will fall down if a crocodile takes up all the water of the moats. There is also a legend that states that a gate of the fort was brought from Delhi which Alauddin Khilji brought from the fort of Chittorgarh. The gate was brought and fixed in the fort in the 17th century.
KUMBHALGARH FORT
Kumbhalgarh Fort is situated in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. The wall of the fort is 38km long and the fort is the second largest after the Chittorgarh Fort. The fort was built by Maharana Kumbha in the 15th century and is the birthplace of Maharana Pratap. There are various stories proving that the fort is haunted.
- Rana Kumbha burned massive oil lamps every evening. His intention was to give light during the night, to farmers working below. However it is believed that the Queen of Jodhpur was attracted by this light and she abandoned her husband and set off for Kumbhalgarh Fort. Rana Kumbha very intelligently averted the embarrassing confrontation by making the queen his sister.
- Panna Dai, a maid, sacrificed her own son to protect the future king of Mewar, Prince Udai Singh II. She smuggled the infant prince to Kumbhalgarh Fort risking her own life in 1535AD.
- Rana Kumbha was killed by his son Udaysimha (Udai Singh I) and that too while he was offering prayers in 1468AD. But the murder did not take place in this fort. Udai Singh, I treacherously murdered his father Kumbha in Eklingji Temple in Chittor.
- Initial efforts to build the fort kept failing. Then on the advice of a priest, the king sought voluntary human sacrifice from his subjects to overcome the obstacle in construction work.
SONAR FORT
It is also known as the Jaisalmer Fort. Located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan itself. Is famous for its rich heritage, reflected in its temples, palaces, forts, etc. It was constructed in 1156 AD by the Bhati Rajput leader Rao Jaisal, where it originates its name. The fort has a population of around 5,000 people from which most are descendants of Brahmin and Rajput families who once lived here. As we navigate the narrow lanes, a bustling city comes alive. It is called a living fort because unlike other forts that were converted into luxury hotels or were abandoned, the Jaisalmer Fort is standing tall till today.
JAIGARH FORT
The fort was built by Jai Singh II in 1726 to protect the Amer Fort and its palace complex and was named after him. The entire structure took over 100 years to be built, with succeeding emperors Raja Jai Singh I and Jaipur's founder, Sawai Jai Singh II, taking over the construction efforts. Is situated on the promontory called the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the Aravalli range; it overlooks the Amer Fort and the Maota Lake, near Amer in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The palaces have court rooms and halls with screened windows. A central watch tower on a raised ground provides excellent vistas of the surrounding landscape.
