There are many respiratory disease caused by tobacco:-
1-Asthma(Most Important)
⇒Asthma is considered as one of the most common chronic and complex respiratory conditions. It is such a condition of the airways presents as constriction of the bronchi and bronchioles in response to irritants. The vascular resistance of the pulmonary system will increase as constriction leads to a smaller vascular diameter (3,4). The prevalence of the disease is predicted to rise making it one of the major life-threatening disorders
2-Emphysema
Emphysema is a condition in which there is over-inflation of structures in the lungs known as alveoli or air sacs. This over-inflation results from a breakdown of the walls of the alveoli, which causes a decrease in respiratory function (the way the lungs work) and often, breathlessness. Early symptoms of emphysema include shortness of breath and cough. Emphysema and chronic bronchitis together comprise chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
3-Pneumonia
Pneumonia is a condition that occurs in the lungs that causes inflammation. It is caused by infections at large. However, bacteria, fungi, viruses and other parasites may also be responsible for the condition. Older people who are above 65 years, people having chronic illness and those who have a week immune system are more prone and likely to this kind of inflammation. Pneumonia can range from mild to life threatening illness. In fact this condition is characterized with high inflammation in the lungs which is caused by the abnormal filling of fluid in the alveolar
4-Lung Cancer
Cancer of the lung was nearly nonexistent in the early 1900’s. By the middle of the 20th century an epidemic became apparent throughout the United States and the rest of the world. It is primarily correlated with the widespread abundance of cigarette smoking in the world. The tobacco industry has multiplied its production immediately prior to World War I. There was a typical 20 to 30 year lagging period between the initiation of cigarette smoking and the actual tumor formation in the lungs. Lung cancer is the cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs
There are many diseases caused by pollution:-
1-Typhoid
Typhoid Fever Typhoid fever is an intestinal illness, which can result in great suffering and even death. At first it was commonly confused with other fever causing illnesses until 1869 when William Jenner performed a careful analysis and found differences in the different types of typhus fevers. In this paper, I will discuss the bacteria that causes typhoid fever, discuss the signs, symptoms, method of transmission, past and current epidemics
2-Giardiasis
Once an animal or person has been infected with Giardia intestinalis, the parasite lives in the intestine and is passed in the stool. Because the parasite is protected by an outer shell, it can survive outside the body and in the environment for long periods of time.
3-diarrhea
Diarrhea is a problem everyone is familiar with - it is one of the most common reasons for people to seek medical advice - but it can range from being a mild, usually temporary condition, to one that can threaten life.

LUNG CANCER :
Lung cancer has been the most common type of cancer in the world for a number of decades and is the leading cause of cancer -related death in both genders worldwide.
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (C O P D) :
The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) has defined C O P D as a progressively disabling disease characterised by airflow obstruction that interferes with normal
breathing. Typical symptoms include increased breathlessness, a persistent phlegm based cough and frequent chest infections.
PNEUMONIA :
Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung that can be caused by infection (from viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms), drugs and autoimmune diseases. The World
Health Organisation estimates reveal that pneumonia is the most common infectious cause of death in the world (the third most common cause overall), accounting for almost 3.5 million deaths each year.
TUBERCULOSIS :
Tuberculosis (T B) is an infectious disease caused by the Myco bacterium tuberculosis bacteria. In 2013, 9 million people contracted T B and 1.5 million died from the disease world- wide. In
the UK, a total of 7,892 cases of T B were recorded in 2013, an incidence of 12.3 per 100,000 residents.
ASTHMA :
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the airways and is characterised by respiratory symptoms such as wheeze, shortness of breath, chest tightness and cough that vary over time and in intensity, together with variable expiratory airflow limitation.
MORBIDITY IN THE YOUNG :
Second- hand smoke is responsible for a significant proportion of deaths from asthma, lower respiratory infections, lung cancer and is chemic heart disease. Thirty- percent of all deaths from second- hand smoke occur in children, with the largest disease burden from lower respiratory infections in those younger than 5 years of age.
