The reservation for women in local bodies by the State government will attract more women to politics, said M. Thambidurai, Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Speaking at a function held at Aravakurichi near here, he said that the State government had increased the reservation for women to 50 percent from 33 percent. It would be implemented in the forthcoming local body elections. It would facilitate women from all walks of life to foray into politics. Hence, women should utilise the opportunity, he said.
