Biome : A biome is a community of plants and animals that have common charecterstics for the environment they exist in.


Terrestrial biome: plants and animals which live on land ,such as Continental land and land masses.


aquatic biome: plants and animals which live
under the water , such as freshwater and salt water.

Biome: A geographic area for the living species that is made up of many ecosystems is called as a biome.

Terrestrial biome: The area of land with similar climate including similar species and types of plants and animals is called a terrestrial biome.  

Different terrestrial biomes are defined in terms of the plants, trees, shrubs, and grasses present there.

There are 7 types of terrestrial biomes. They are,

  • Tundra.
  • Taiga.
  • Temperate deciduous forest.
  • Scrub forest  
  • Grassland.
  • Desert.
  • Tropical rain forest.
  • Temperate rain forest.

Aquatic biome: The area of water in the form of oceans, lakes, rivers and te living species in it is referred to as aquatic biome.

There are 6 types of aquatic biomes. They are,

  • Ponds and lakes.
  • Streams and rivers.
  • Wetlands.
  • Oceans.
  • Coral reefs.
  • Estuaries.
