The thyroid is part of the endocrine system, which is made up of glands that produce, store, and release hormones into the bloodstream so the hormonescan reach the body's cells. Thethyroid gland uses iodine from the foods you eat to make two main hormones: Triiodothyronine (T3) Thyroxine (T4)

Thyroid gland is an endocrine gland.

This gland is located in the thyroid region.

It produces thyroxine which regulates the metabolism rate and growth.

Excess of thyroxine causes hyperthyroidism.

If thyroxine is insufficiently produced it leads to lower the general metabolism of body.

If thyroxine gland excessively developed it leads to neck sweeping and protrude eye outward because of lack of iodine in the diet.
