we can classify plants from this criterias like presence or absence of organs , presence or absence of separate conducting tissues for conducting of water and food ,do the plants bear the seeds? if they do then whether the seeds are enclosed in a fruit or not is also an criteria for classification. at the higher level of Plants classification different characteristics are considered for classification example depending upon the absence of presence of flowers fruits and seeds plants are classified as cryptogamaes and phanerogams.

in 1883 is Le a botanist classified The Kingdom plantae into to subkingdoms. as a result of subkingdom cryptogams and phanerogams were considered for plant classification.
cryptogams are classified as thallophyta bryophyta and pteridophyta.

Thallophyta : this plants grow mainly in the water this grow of plants which do not have space is parts like roots stems and leaves but are autotrophic due to the presence of chlorophyll is called algae algae show great diversity the maybe unicellular or multicellular and microscopic or large example of algae, spirogyra , ulothrix, Ulva , Sargassum, etc.
some of these are found in freshwater while some are found in saline water. this plants usually have a soft and fibre like body. various types of fungi like yeast , mould which do not have chlorophyll are also included in this group.

Bryophyta : this group of plants is called amphibians of plant Kingdom because they grow in moist soil but need water for reproduction these plants are thalloid multi celler and autotrophic . they reproduce by spore formation the structure of plant body of bryophyta Aziz a flat Ribbon like long without roots stems and leaves instead they have stem like or live like parts and root like rhizoids.
