Answer:
HYDERABAD: In a bid to increase the green cover to at least 33 % in
Telangana
, the sixth phase of
Haritha Haram programme
was launched on Thursday in the state. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao launched the programme by planting a sapling of black plum (Neredu) in the
Narsapur forest areas
in Medak district.
The CM inaugurated
the Narsapur Urban Forest Park
, which was developed in 636 acres. He went around the block and inspected the forest revival programme works, natural forest, rock fill dam and water harvesting system. From the watch tower built on a hill, the CM had the view of the entire forest area.
The CM said the forest there is like those in the river valley regions, such as, Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts. Other than these districts, Narsapur is the only area where there are thick forests. He said more importance should be given to protect the forests and afforestation should be done in the deforested areas.
Haritha Haram programme was first launched on July 3, 2015 by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao at
Chilkur
on the outskirts of Hyderabad by planting a sapling for the ambitious Haritha Haram program. Ministers, elected representatives and officials participated in the programme across the state.
As part of the sixth phase of green programme, Chilkur Balaji temple priests have set an example of sorts for citizens of the state by nurturing a sapling planted by CM K CCR while launching Haritha Haram programme five years ago. The Champak or Gold Flower (Sampangi) sapling planted by the Chief Minister, has become a full fledged tree now where its leaves and flowers are being used regularly in the puja of Sri Venkateswara Swamy of the Chilkur Balaji Temple.
Chief Minister
Chandrashekhar Rao
along with his wife Shobha planted the Champak sapling on the premises of
Sri Chilkur Balaji
temple on July 3, 2015 while launching the Haritha Haram programme. He wanted all denizens to plant saplings in the places of worship like temples, mosques and churches as well as protect them.
