➡It is a bicameral legislature with two houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People).
➡The President in his role as head of legislature has full powers to summon and prorogue either house of Parliament or to dissolve Lok Sabha.
➡Originally called the House of Parliament, it was designed by the British architect Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker in 1912-1913 and also designed New Delhi construction began in 1921 and ended in 1927.
➡The Parliament Museum, opened in 2006, stands next to the Parliament House.
