mohammedsaif: Electroplating is a process that uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode. The term is also used for electrical oxidation of anions on to a solid substrate, as in the formation of silver chloride on silver wire to make silver/silver-chloride electrodes.

Electroplating is the process of depositing a thin metal coating on other metal  to improve their appearance looks .
Application of electroplating :

Decoration Purpose :Some metals give better look and finish. For example , a flower vase of brass if electroplated with silver will be more attractive.

Protection Against Corrosion:More reactive metals tend to get rusted often. To portect against corrosion, we use electroplating. For example :Iron can be protected by coating it with Zinc and Nickel.Brass objects are coated with chromium.
Repairing Finer Machine parts:Minor repairs[small and precise ] in machines can be done by coating the place with required metal
