Dermal tissue are the tissues which protects the outermost layer of the plant. It basically has the function that it protects the plant. It protects the soft tissue of the plant and control the interaction of the plant with surrounding areas. It consists of a very thin layer of cells. Dermal tissue is found covering the younger primary parts of a plant. As the plants become woody it doesn't have dermal tissue.
