As you can see in the attached picture of Rajasthan, the weather conditions there are really extreme(hot) and at night(which is shown in the second attached picture) the weather is kind of chilly so they wear the clothes accordingly. So they wear clothes which are like loose cotton in the daytime and in the evening they wear rather warm clothes.
Third and fourth, attached pictures are of Himachal Pradesh which is a Northern area, the weather there is rather cold so people wear warm clothes.
Places like Mumbai(fifth picture) and Delhi(sixth picture) the weather there is moderate not very hot and not very cold so people prefer to wear cotton or synthetic clothes there. There is a very short of span of winters in places like Mumbai or Delhi so the warm clothing is used for 2-3 weeks.
In terms of housing the places which are cold the houses, there are made up of bricks or are made up of wood because it is the good conductor of cold so that houses stay warm.

The clothes and houses are greatly influenced by climatic conditions in India.
Different regions have different climate and culture which influences their lifestyle.
Kashmir has houses with sloppy roofs because of snow and the clothing is thick to protect from harsh winters.
Rajasthan has mud houses and Sikkim has houses on the hills. They do rainwater harvesting and the clothes are warm.
Kerala has very hot climate so the clothes are lungi and sarees which are airy and comfortable.
I have attached word file which has more photo and information.
