Collection of facts like values or measurements is called as Data.

Data is a value assigned to a thing like Color, Shape, Number, Condition, Size etc.,

Data is divided into many categories such as,

1) Qualitative data: It refers to the quality of something. A description of colors, texture and feel of an object

2) Quantitative data: This data refers to a number like the number of tennis balls, the size, the price, a score on a test etc.,

3) Categorical data: Categorize the data that you are describing. For example, 'new things' and 'old things'.

4) Discrete data: It is the numerical data that has gaps in it. For example, the count of cricket balls. There can only be whole numbers of cricket ball but there is no such thing as 0.5 cricket balls.

5) Continuous data: This data takes numerical values with a continuous range. For example, size of the golf balls can be any value (e.q. 20.56mm or 17.54mm but also 10.536mm). In continuous data, all values are possible with no gaps in between. This means it takes the decimal values also.
