Collenchyma differs from parenchyma in having pectin deposits at corners.

* Some of the differences between parenchyma and collenchyma are:

1. Cell wall-

Thin cellulose walls in case of parenchyma but in case of collenchyma, the cell walls are thick at the corners due to the deposition of pectin.

2. Location-

Parenchyma present in almost all parts but collenchyma present in only the outer parts.

3. Cellular arrangements-

Compact in case of collenchyma cells but loosely packed in case of parenchyma cells.

4. Functions-

Storage function in case of parenchyma whereas mechanical support is provided by the collenchyma cells.
